MUSEUMS OF GROTTAMMARE
In Grottammare there are three museums laying inside important historic sites. The first two of them are situated in the old town, the third one is downtown.
‘Tower of the Battle’ Museum
In its rooms there is a permanent exposition of Pericle Fazzini’s works, sculptor of International fame, born in Grottammare, the author of the great “Resurrezione” (Resurrection) in the Sala Nervi in Vatican.
‘Sistino’ Museum
Sited inside the church of San Giovanni Battista, the Museum is mainly dedicated to the memory of Felice Peretti, who became Pope Sixtus the Fifth, born in Grottammare in 1521. There is an exposition of exquisite workmanship objects, given by the Pope and art objects made by the famous artists of that period.
‘Comical Illustration’ – Museum
The museum, on the ground floor of Kursaal, exposes art objects, drawings and comical and satirical illustrations, cinema posters dedicated to the Italian commedians and to the famous celebrities in show business.

‘Ichthyic Museum’
The Museum is composed by nearly 9.000 different species of fish, shellfish, molluscs, cetaceans, fossils. The specimens comes not only from Adriatic or Mediterranean Sea, but also from far away ones, and they are evidences of the lively past period of the oceanic fishing in San Benedetto del Tronto.
The Museum makes use of depths, ship models and aquariums.
‘Amphora’s Museum’
The peculiarity of the Museum is that it collects all the various kind of amphorae, different in typology and in chronology, that have been salvaged by the trawlers of San Benedetto marine, that were usual to go fishing along different areas of Mediterraean Sea.
